The Wharncliff knife design features a totally straight cutting edge and spine that curves downward to meet the tip at an acute angle. The "curves" downward part leaves the knifemaker with a lot of latitude this one features a blunt reverse Tanto style tip.
The Wharncliff dates back to the early 19th century and is named for the 1st Barron Wharncliff who wanted a broad sturdy utility blade.
